Vera Garabedian Named Glendale Unified Student Board Member for 2025-26

Glendale, CA – Crescenta Valley High School (CVHS) senior Vera Garabedian has been selected as the 2025-26 Glendale Unified student board member. GUSD Board president Ingrid Gunnell officially swore her in during the Board of Education meeting on the evening of Tuesday, September 30. Vera will serve as a liaison between students and the Glendale Unified Board of Education, representing 26,000 students, providing input on policies and programs to help guide district decisions.
Garabedian was elected by Glendale Unified’s Student Advisory Council (SAC), which is made up of 26 student leaders from every GUSD high school. The council serves as a student voice body, providing feedback to district leaders and offering input on programs, policies, and initiatives that impact all GUSD students.
Garabedian has made a lasting impact in both her school and the wider community. She has received multiple awards, including the Academic Student Athlete Award for golf and the Girl Scout Silver Award for partnering with the Pasadena Humane Society to create handmade toys and treats for rabbits. She is also involved in numerous school and district organizations, including Spanish Club, National Honor Society and the GUSD Student Advisory Council, among many others.
During Garabedian’s speech, she stated “As Student Board Member, I hope to create an open channel of communication between myself and all students within the district to bring their concerns to the board. I promise to be a voice for those who go unheard, and I am honored to carry this responsibility with me.”
Inspired by a passion for representing her peers and a love of public speaking, Garabedian aims to foster a sense of community across all district schools and advocate for every student, regardless of grade level, gender, or background. She values the support of teachers, staff, and administration in creating a welcoming environment for all students and is grateful for the opportunity to use her voice to address the concerns of her peers.
