About Transitional Kindergarten

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year Kindergarten program that uses a modified Kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate. TK serves as a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for children who will turn 5 years old on or between September 2 and April 2 during the year they attend.
 

New Changes for 2024-25!

• More students are eligible for TK! Students who turn 5 between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025 can enroll in TK for the 2024-25 school year.
• TK is coming to Edison and Monte Vista! Next year, TK will be available at every school in GUSD except for Keppel Elementary.
   

How to Enroll in TK

• Step 1: Visit our School Finder to find your school of residence.
• Step 2: Download and complete a registration packet on our registration page.
• Step 3: Visit the ParentConnection Portal to upload your registration packet and supporting documents.
• Step 4: Contact your school to make an appointment to finalize your registration.
