Balboa Elementary Students Present $13,000 Donation to Blood Cancer United

Balboa Elementary School students gathered on May 15 to celebrate the presentation of a $13,000 donation to representatives from Blood Cancer United, continuing the school’s strong tradition of supporting blood cancer research and advocacy efforts.
The check presentation, led by Balboa’s Student Council, took place in front of the entire student body as students, staff, and guests came together to recognize the school community’s fundraising achievements. Representatives from Blood Cancer United attended the event and accepted the donation on behalf of the organization.
Since 2022, Balboa Elementary has raised nearly $65,000 for the cause under the leadership of Principal Dr. Sona Arakelyan. Through parent donations and schoolwide fundraising efforts, the initiative has become a meaningful tradition that brings students, families, and staff together in support of an important cause.
“Through experiences like this, students learn the power of working together to make a meaningful difference, lessons that extend well beyond the classroom and into their everyday lives,” said Arakelyan.
The event began with remarks from Student Council students, who spoke about the importance of supporting individuals and families affected by blood cancers. Students then formally presented the check to Blood Cancer United representatives as applause filled the crowd of Balboa students gathered to witness the celebration.
The presentation highlighted the compassion, teamwork, and generosity of the Balboa community and celebrated the positive impact students can make when they come together to support others
