Elementary School

What Parents/Guardians Can Do

  • Encourage your child to be present each day for class. Allow them to explore their likes, interests, and hobbies. 
  • Support your child in their academic schoolwork and encourage a culture of learning at home. 
  • Allow your child to participate in school-sponsored activities and encourage participation in enrichment and extracurricular programs.
  • Create easy to follow routines at home to help your child develop character and skill-building.
  • Participate in parent opportunities and groups at your school.
  • Communicate with your child about how their activities and interests outside of school can lead them to success and career opportunities in the future. 
  • Encourage a positive outlook on assessments as a means to improve and expand on knowledge.
  • Connect to a school counselor regarding career assessments or activities for your child. 
  • Teach your child about savings and financial literacy by setting up a piggy bank, savings account, or allowance system.
  • Start saving for college! Learn more about college savings accounts and the GUSD College Success Fund.

  • Encourage School Engagement - Encourage your child to be present each day for class. Allow them to explore their likes, interests, and hobbies. 

    Academic Planning for College & Career Readiness - Support your child in their academic schoolwork and encouraging a culture of learning at home. 

    Enrichment and Extracurricular Engagement - Allow your child to participate in school-sponsored activities and encourage participation in enrichment and extracurricular programs.

    College & Career Exploration and Selection Process - Create easy to follow routines at home to help your child develop character and skill-building. Participate in parent opportunities and groups at your school.
